You are receiving this error when you are attempting to install the newest build of CAREWare on top of the previous build. You should first attempt to remove the previous business tier build using the Add/Remove Programs located in the Control Panel. You can learn more about how to uninstall CAREWare using that feature at the
'How do I upgrade the business tier?' link.
If the above uninstallation was unsuccessful in removing the current business tier build, then you will need to complete the following:
- Go to Start>Run
- Type "CMD" (No quotes) and click 'OK'
- On the command line type the following:
SC Delete RWCAREWareBusinessTier
then press Enter
- After receiving notice that the service has been successfully deleted, reboot the PC.
- Attempt to re-install the latest build using the business tier setup file.
If you are still unable to install the new build after completing the above, then you will need to edit your registry.
Warning Editing the registry can adversely affect your system. Make sure to have a recent registry backup before attempting the procedure below.
- Go to Start>Run
- Type "Regedit" (No quotes) and click 'Ok'
- Click on File>Export
- Chose a location to save the registry backup to and provide a file name
- Press "Save"
- Go to Hkey_Local_Macine>System>CurrentControlSet>Service>RwCAREWareBusinessTier
- Right click on the RWCAREWareBusinessTier folder and select 'Delete'
- Click 'Yes'
- Once the registry as been successfully deleted you can attempt to re-install the business tier build.
